Built in 1984 by National Steel & Shipbuilding Corp.

Length 503 ft. Breadth 73 ft. Depth 25 ft. Displacement 8,370 tons

Built for the US Navy as a dual purpose cable layer/hydrographic survey ship. Fitted with four cable tanks and a stern gantry. Also fitted with three bow sheaves.
