CS ELVESHORN / POOLSTER (1) / INGENIEUR-EN-CHEF HANFF

Built as Elveshorn in 1937 by Kremer and Son, Elmshorn.

Length 117.9 ft.  Breadth 22.2 ft.  Depth 7.6 ft.  Gross tonnage 199

CS Elveshorn

Built as a coaster for Elmshorner Dampfscheppschiffarts AG. Chartered by Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke on a number of occasions. Taken over by the German Navy in 1941 and used for cable work.Fitted with two cable tanks and a  combined paying out-picking up machine manufactured by Hans Seebeck of Bremerhaven which was designed as a self contained unit for easy removal.

On 19 January 1946 the vessel was handed over to the Netherlands PTT, renamed CS Poolster (1), and used as a repair vessel. Handed over to the French PTT in June 1949 and renamed Ingenieur-en-Chef Hanff.

CS Ingenieur-en-Chef Hanff

Sold for commercial trading to Emeraude Industrielle et Maritimes in 1954, retaining its name. In 1963 sold to Emeraude Maritimes SA., Brest. 1964 saw a new owner and a new name, La Majungaise, owned and operated by Societé de Transportes Maritimes de Majunga (Madagascar). Reverted to Ingenieur-en-Chef Hanff in 1966 and then in 1969 reverted back to La Majungaise. Purchased by Armement Maritimes Lewis in 1976. Foundered in 2009.
